Models of metabolic syndrome and cardiac ischemia

The PEC2 experimental laboratory has developed an original model of metabolic syndrome in rats and mice, induced by early exposure to postnatal overfeeding.

To study the mechanisms involved in the onset of cerebro-cardiovascular diseases, the PEC2 laboratory has implemented techniques for cerebral ischemia through embolization, and cardiac ischemia ex vivo and in vivo through ligation of the left anterior descending coronary artery. The latter will allow for the assessment of the response to ischemia-reperfusion, myocardial infarction, and the onset of post-ischemic heart failure.
